“Levada” is based on a photo I took of my

partner while we were walking a trail on the

island of Madeira. Created over the course of two

weeks, the foliage is painted using a mix of photo

references from that day and elements from my

imagination. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always

romanticised the idea of being lost in a jungle —

this piece is an exploration of that fascination.
